Why Syracuse vs. UConn Isn't Blog Worthy
Just because something is rare, just because something is historic, and just because something is enthralling at the time...DOES NOT make it inevitably interesting. Everyone who cares about this blog knows that Syracuse defeated Connecticut 127-117 last night in a game that went into 6 overtimes. I'm not breaking any news there. Should I talk about how a game this long has not happened in college basketball since 1981? Again...we learned that from watching the game last night or seeing highlights today. Should I provide stats, talk about who fouled out, and who played the most minutes? Boring! This was an event that had to be experienced. It was a game filled with facts and moments...not a lot of subjective opinions to be drawn here. A 6 overtime game is, in itself, fascinating. It's enthralling, ridiculous, and exhausting. It's just not necessarily interesting. Sorry.

That is so lame.
ReplyDeleteI agree this blog never breaks any news. We want your interesting insights and comedic dialogue on a pretty exciting and historic contest between two Big East rivals
ReplyDeleteokay so I'm back from my weekend away without TV and internet and this is all I get. I agree that you would not have been breaking any news, but to even identify one story out of that game or at least have some quip about how long the game was would have done well or about how much longer Jim Boehim's sexual romps with his good looking wife last or something like that. To call the best game of the conference tournaments lame makes a tear come to my eye (and this is coming from someone who doesn't think anything about Syracuse is interesting and is not a huge fan of Calhoun).
