(I looked everywhere online and could not find a bracket with the Presidential seal)
Also...President Obama's original bracket...and his official ESPN Tournament Challenge entry.President Barack Obama has filled out his NCAA Tournament bracket. Assuming he's a genius, things look VERY good for Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Louisville, and Memphis. I'd be completely happy with that Final Four, but still, a little chalky Mr. President. UNC fans should be happy, he chose the Tar Heels to win the whole thing. It's been a pretty fantastic 5 months for North Carolina democrats.

I BESEECH you to read Andy Katz's article on President Obama filling out his NCAA Tournament Bracket. Katz is the reason this happened on a national stage. The background to this story involves interviewing Obama's brother-in-law (Oregon State head coach Craig Robinson) and playing pickup hoops with Barack Obama on election day.
A few highlights from President Obama's time filling out his Presidential NCAA Tournament bracket Tuesday afternoon in the Map Room:
- On choosing Utah over Arizona in the first round - "It has nothing to do with McCain," Obama said. "I think Arizona is a great state. I love playing golf there. But they just squeaked in."
- "Because of Reggie Love, I've got to pick Duke,", said Obama concerning his personal aide, a former Blue Devil basketball and football player.
- President Obama on Pitt potentially playing Duke, "I think [Dejuan] Blair is going to eat them up."
- On the Panther's amazing hometown, "I've had good luck with Pittsburgh," Obama said. "It turned Pennsylvania. They came through in the Super Bowl. So I figure let's keep riding them a little bit longer.
- Obama on his pick for national champion...North Carolina, "Now, for the Tar Heels who are watching, I picked you all last year -- you let me down. This year, don't embarrass me in front of the nation, all right? I'm counting on you. I still got those sneakers you guys gave me."

His bracket is very chalky and no surprise with him picking UNC since he did play some ball with them during his campaign. I am a little surprised that he didn't throw a bone to a little school to try to make that into some political message saying something like, "Obama is all about the little people...and the little people need healthcare" or something like that (yes I realize he does not speak in the 3rd person, but out of everyone in the world, I am starting to convince myself that he should start speaking in the 3rd person, I think it might be a good thing).
ReplyDeleteObama picks CUSE to upset Oklahoma!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDesmond REALLY likes the idea of Obama speaking in the third person!
ReplyDeleteIf he actually did speak in 3rd person, I definitely would have chuckled if he said, "Obama wants stimulus."
