Big East & ACC Awards - "We Represent"

In order to inform and provoke, I've decided to list all of the notable awards for both the Big East and ACC. Interestingly enough, Dejuan Blair and Hasheem Thabeet SHARE the award for Big East Player of the Year. Ty Lawson beats out teammate Tyler Hansbrough for Player of the Year in the ACC, adding merit to my point that Lawson is more important to UNC's success than Hansbrough. Many of the readership's favorite teams are represented in these awards. Pitt and UNC do quite nicely for themselves (although Levance Fields dropping to the third team is a crime). Villanova and Notre Dame also show up, earning various kudos. (Could Jay Wright have won coach of the year without being photographed next to Lydia Cate? Probably not.) Please enjoy and argue. It's been a great season so far, but it's just getting started.

  1. Wow, the Big East really did get their awards right this year, sometimes leagues will get these things wrong, but I can't argue with many of them. Maybe I am biased, but Villanova clearly had less talent any of the other top Big East teams and yet they were still able to finish 4th in the league, so Coach Wright clearly should have gotten this award (by the way, I'm sure the league wanted to be able to have a picture of a goodlooking coach to go with this award and he's the go to guy). Cunningham averaged 2 more minutes a game this year and that translated into 6 more points per game (10 ppg last year and 16 ppg this year) so pretty good decision there. Corey Fisher came off the bench and basically won 3 or 4 games for us with his 3 point abilities so that is also a good choice for sixth man.

By the way, any award given to Florida State this year is well deserved, they basically came out of nowhere with a bunch of nobodies and were coached well and competitive in one of the toughest conferences in the country, the ACC got that part right.
